Who Will Replace Mary Kay Sigaty?
One of County Executive-Elect Ken Ulman's first important decisions will be to decide who will replace Mary Kay Sigaty on the Board of Education. My pick would be Janet Siddiqui. Who do you think Ken should appoint?
I hope the County Executive takes the time to give thorough consideration to everyone who applies. There is certainly an argument to be made for candidates who ran and lost, that they must have wanted to be on the BOE pretty badly. However, just because people ran doesn't mean they're qualified or would make good members on the Board. I was disappointed to see that Josh Kaufman said that he will not seek the appointment, because he has been effective on the BOE and was a serious candidate. Otherwise, I hope we get another similarly qualified individual whose educational and community experience will really be assets on the Board.
i think di zou(is that his name?)would be a great addition. having a bright recent graduate would be a welcome addition. boe members need to hear from the younger generation to have a better feel for what is truly going on.
It sounds like anyone will have their hands full. I hope there are strong members that won't just go along for the ride. Looks like Central Office will be running the show again. Stay tuned.
